There was a large crowd at the new chemical laboratory at Canterbury College yesterday afternoon, when the ceremony of opening the building was performed by Sir Joseph Ward. Addresses were given by Sir Joseph Ward, Mr. G. W. Russell, M.P., chairman of the Board of Governors, Dr. Evans, and Mr. J. Allen, M.P. Later on a large number of guests were entertained by Mr. Russ'ell at afternoon tea in the College Ilall. The new laboratory is a very handsome and substantia! building, and as it is equipped with the most modern appliances it will be highly appreciated by both students and teachers.
