BIBLE-READING.
To the Editor. Sir,—As a subscriber to jour paper of some years' standing, II feel to iiave an interest as to some of the articles ani letters which have appeared and may appear therein, and to hope that for the future you will devote weekly a column or two on the subject of Biblereading in general and in schools in particular; not necessarily as letters. I was most agreeably surprised to read the first letter of "C.W.W." "(Bth February), 'pointing out just a few from the vast heap of Bible absurdities. Such a Tetter (though not then dealing in argument) was a treat after the sickly surfeit you have of late given us of the maunderings of the "unco' guid" and those paid to uphold the clerical guild. Page 6 would be much better employed in publishing facts rather than silly, hurtful fiction, and help to retain your supporters, who (from the s'urfeit above alluded to) are getting very shaky. "Sunday reading" we do not object to; its seven water broth, while suitable for weaklings, helps to create a desire for j the sounder food of truth and science :in the body of the intelligent. Why do j tteTcieVgy (unless they suffer from want . of argument and logic) call us pagans? | I accept the title, for I would rather be jan infidel seeking truth and honesty ! than a disseminator of cruel', Ignorant superstition, so sign myself A PAGAN. P'S.—Though "C.W.W." requires no ; ReTp, still I would be pJeased to be his assistant when he requires a Saturday afternoon off from duty. If you "rant us the space, 1 would' strive to °send notes worthy of insertion.
