WANGANUI RIVER SCENERY, By Telegraph.—Press' Association. Wanganui, February 18 The Chamber of Commerce this morning decided to send a protest to the Minister in charge of the Tourist Department agaiinst 'the destruction of the bush and fern scenery on the banks of the Wanganui River. It is stated that Maoris and others are cutting down the bush, are not even s'owing grass, and are allowing noxious weeds to spread. • THE WANGAEHU DERELICT. Wanganui, February 18. The wreckage that was found near Wangaehu recently is reported by the police to be part of the schooner Ururoa, which was wrecked here fifteen months ago. The remains of the vessel worked loose from the sand and drifted down the coast. CONSUMPTIVE ANNEXE. Palmerston North, Friday. The "All Nations' Fair" promoted by the Mayoress with the object of providing funds for the erection of a consumption annexe for women has resulted *n the raising of £7OO during the past three days. This, with the Government subsidy, of 24s for each pound, assures the erection of the building.
