A BIG LINER.
THE P. AND 0. SERVICE. ARRIVAL OP THE MALWA IN AUCKLAND. By Telegraph.—Press' Association. Auckland, February 16. The P. and 0. Company's steamer Mal\va arrived at 7 o'clock this morning. At mid-day the Hons. Dr. Finlay and Fowlds and a number of leading citizens attended a luncheon on board the vessel. Captain Troque, interviewed, spoke most eulogistieally of the Auckland harbor, and said he thought it one of the safest ports he had ever entered. Mr. Trelauney, the company's superintendent in Australia, bore out these remarks, and said he hoped the best results would follow the extension of the service. The company's' object was not to compete for intercolonial trade but to catch through passengers from New Zealand to England and England to New Zealand.
