One return is yet to come, but it cannot materially alter the result. Efforts are being made to have the mines cleaned up in readiness for working on Monaay. The Helensburg mine has started. The southern mines that have resumed are working full-handed. Numbers of v'e==cl* Ir.id up owing to the strike are getting ready for re-com-mission. The through ser\jice to Western Australia resumes from Saturoay. SERIOUS HITCH IN NEGOTIATIONS. Received 10, 10.15 p.m. Sydney, February 16. When the Wages Board met at Newcastle this afternoon, it was learned, that a hitch has occurred in the negotiations for a settlement. Mr. Charlton, a member of the Assembly, who is engaged formulating the miners' claims, said he had hoped to have arranged with the men to return to work on Monday, but he had not had time to complete the task. He asked the Board to adjourn to nevt Wednesday, and trusted to have ihe men bacK by that day. It is feared a serious obstacle has arisen in connection with Judge Scho'.e's and Mr. Charlton's efforts to bring t'ae masters and men together.
