The Railway Servants' Conference resolved that the management be requested to allow surfacemen and gangers' to take only half-an-hour for lunch during the winter, leaving work correspondingly earlier; that members of the Way and Works Department be allowed to return home by the first available train after finishing the week's work; that iron-working machinists, sub-class 5. be placed in the same position a.s regards pay as wood-working machinists, subclass 4; that carpenters who have to provide their own tools be granted (Id per day extra allowance; that casuals who have served over five years should be put on the pcrmnaent stall'; that all casuals continuously employed be granted privilege tickets and passes irrespective of what department they may be employed in; that dining ;i\\d sleepingear attendants be placed on D.'l list.
