? LONDON PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs. E. Griffiths and Co. are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Messrs. Mills and Sparrow, dated 31st December, 1900: BUTTER. Since our last report the weather has been changeable. Wo have had occasional frosts, but it lias mostly been mild. Danish: Although arrivals this week were smaller, the market has been of rather a holiday character, and the quote has therefore been reduced 3 kroner. French: Customers are gradually leaving tiiis class of butter for colonial, which now shows infinitely better value. Australian: Last weekV arrivals were all well cleared, and the s.s. Orontes arrived in good time, but owing to the holidays none of her butter was on the market until Wednesday. Buyers, anticipating lower quotations for Danish, held off the market for a day or two, in hopes of buying at less than last week, but agents feeling that the position was sound, and that buyers generally had very little stock, were in no hurry to sell, with the result that at the end of the week, in spite of the reduction in Danish, the butters have sold well, and prices have been maintained, so that we think the future looks very healthy. New Zealand: There has been practically none on the market this week, and buyers are waiting for the s.s. Rimutaka, which is expected to dock to-day or to-morrow. Already there are some sellers anxious to dispose of their butters, and there are numerous oilers at 110s. and we hear of sales having been made at less money. Argentine: There has been no arrival this week, and anything that was left over from last week- is now cleared. CHEESE. Canadian: There is no change to report. Trade continues quiet. New Zealand: The shipment per s.s. Tainui is not quite cleared, and there has been very little trade doing this week. However, with the arrival of the s.s. Rimutaka no doubt interest will be revived.
