The butter factory companies doing business on the Auckland market have decided to increase the wholesale price of the standard brands of butter to 12'/!>d per lb nett as from to-morrow morning. At the first ram fair, held to-day, 1000 were offered, this number being rather above the capacity of the district to absorb. Wanganui, February 12. Pipiriki House, which was destroyed by fire some months ago, has' been replaced. It is a fine commodious structure, and is well appointed. The house is now opened to a large number of tourists who are patronising the Wanganui River and visiting the Waitomo Caves. RAILWAY TIMETABLE. Wanganui, Saturday. At a public meeting held last night, the Mayor presiding, resolutions were passed protesting strongly against the inconvenience of the existing railway timetable as a Heeling Wajiganni, and also against the unfairness of the differential or long-distance freight rates, more particularly the discounts, which operate only after To miles.
