THE RAILWAY ACCIDENT
FROMONT'S CONDITION GRAVE. Upon inquiry last night we lea moil that the case of Mr. E. E. Fromont, who was injured at the New Plymouth ' railway station a week ago, was extremely grave. Up till Friday the patient had been doing very well, but then the artery which had been sorious'ty bruised in the accident, burst. He lost a lot of blood before the artery was tied. Fear was expressed then that his system was too enfeebled to permit of his keeping up a sufficient supply ot blood in the limb, and this fear proved well founded. The accident was caused, it will be remembered, during shunting operations' at the railway station on Saturday week. Fromont, who was the train-examiner, was stooping behind a truck at the end of a goods train, and some more vehicles were shunted on to the other end. Be was pinned beneath the wheel, and very badly injured in the groin, losing a great quantity of blood.
