AMUSEMENTS

SIIACKLETON'S PICTURES.

In the Recreation Grounds on Thursday and Friday naxt the above great attraction will be shown before New Plymouth audiences. These expedition series are said to outclass anything yet shown in the dominion. This attraction should be of special interest to folk like ourselves, who dwell considerably south of the equator. They represent the incidents and adventures that befel Sir Ernest Shackleton and his brave comrades in their endeavor to reach the South Pole; so local patrons who have never been into Antarctica, or, indeed, into other than temperate zones, will have a good idea of what the life of the discoverer mus't be like in these dreary wastes of inhospitable whiteness. But this is not the only one of the series of pictures to be shown. Another "star" attraction, which is the company's own work, entitled, Winter Carnival Sports on llount Kosciusko," is abounding in interest and humor—tobogganing, ski-racing, ,and jumping form the humorous portion of the film. The principal feature of the management is to submit a programme that resembles nothing of its kind that has been shown or exhibited here before. Popular price of admission is to be charged, namely, one shilling.
