Colonel Swope wa»' a. Kansas millionaire who died suddenly. Dr. Hyde is married to the colonel's niece, and was his medical attendant.

The Senate has appointed a committee of seven to investigate the causes of the higher cost of living. It is expected that the House of Representatives will conduct an independent inquiry.

The Royal Naval College at Osborne is closed. Two hundred cadets out of 500, including Prince Albert:, are suffering from influenza, whilst some are suffering from pneumonia.
