' On 18th January we held our usual Stratford sale. Wc had a good yarding, and owing to the favorable climatic conditions, which were responsible for | abundance of feed, the demand was good from all parts of the district, i Three-year-old steers made £4 13s, 2 I year do. £3 Bs' Gd to £3 12s Gd, 15 to 18-month do. £2 Ss to £2 14s', 2I year-old dairy heifers made £3 4s, yeariling do. £1 15s to 47s Gd, forward cows ! l£3 to £3 7s Gd, store and fresh do. At Eltham on tlie 20th we had a moderate yarding of useful ' cattlo, which sold freely at ruling prices. We quote fat cows to £4 ss, forward do. £3 3s to £3 15s, store do. £2 Is to £2 I9s, forward bullocks £4 I7s.

On Thursday, 27th January, we held a clearing-out sale on behalf of Mr. J. S. Pearce, Kapimi, consisting of his fine Herd of dairy cows, farm implements, and sundries. The cows were a really good lot and sold very'well, implements' and sundries- also realising fair values. Best cows made .£7 to £ll, steers £4 10s to £6 15s, forward empty do. £3 10s to £4.

At Stratford on Ist February we held our usual fortnightly cattle sale. Despite the inclement weather we had a ■satisfactory yarding, all of which sold at the hammer fully up to recent ruling rates. Fat cows made £4 0s lid to £4 10s, forward do. £3 to £3 15s, store do. 47s' to 58s, 3-year-old steers '£4 14s, 2 to 2%-year-oid do. £3 15s to £3 18s, 15 to 18-months do. £2 9s Od to £3, dairy heifers £2 10s to £4.

At Stratford on Tuesday, Ist February, we held our annual sheep fair. Owing to the inclement weather some of the advertise! lines did not come forward, but all classes of s'lieep were represented, and buyers were in attendance from all parts of the province. Everything was cleared at most satisfactory prices. Two-tooth ewes made 13s (id to 14s 9d, full-mouth do. 9s to 10s. cull ewes 4s to 7s' (id, 4 and C-tooth iwethers lis 3d to lis sd. 2-tooth do.

9s (id to 10s fid, fat shorn lambs 8s 2d, woolly lambs 8s 7d, cull lambs 4s 6'd, Border Leicester rams 2 to 3 guineas, Leicester do. 2 to 2% guineas.

At Kaponga on the 4th wo held our usual fortnightly sale. Fat cows made (T4 to £4 13s 6d, forward do.. £3 to £4, stores 10s to £2 15s, 2-year-old dairy heifers £3 13s/ weaners ' 17s Gd to 25s Gd, pigs (slips) 6s.

WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. . Mart.—At the mart on Saturday we had every pen filled to overcrowding with all elass'es of poultry. Contrary to expectations, prices were decidedly advanced .on last week's. In all over 300 birds were penned, and prices closed as under:—Young chicks od to 7d, ducklings 9d to Is Id, ducks Is 5d to 3,5, according to age and quality; hens Is 2d to Is 7d, good young liens' up to 2s Id, pullets 2s fid to' 3s 3d each, geese 3s, guinea fowls 3s fid.

Meat.—The meat sale was well patronised, and joints sold readily at the hammer. The quality is still of a high standard, and each week s'ees new buyers in attendance. On Saturday sirloins made 3d to 4d. prime ribs 3d to 4d, roasts 2d to 2%»d, boiling and corning pieces l',/,d to 2d, prime brisket 2 , / / ; dto 3d. forequartcrs of lamb 2s fid to 3s, hindquarters 3s Od to 4s, forequarters of mutton 2 1 / 3 d to 3y 2 dj hindquarters and legs Sy.d" to 4y 3 d~. Fruit.—This l has been pouring in at the rate of over 300 boxes a day. On Friday, from Nelson, we had just on 000 boxes.
