NORTH TAIIA \AK. 1 ASSOCIATION

A committee meeting of the North Taranaki Cricket Association was held on Tuesday evening. There was a large attendance of delegatei, all the clubs being well represented.

Air. E. Whittle was elected to tlii chair. The business of the evening was primarily to make arrangements' for tli<; match v. the Australians.

No definite arrangements have been arrived at re tiie amalgamation of the Noyth and South Taranaki Associations, anct this somewhat retarded the work of the delegates. On the motion of Mr. Southall, seconded by Mr. Clegg, it was decided that the proposed amalgamation having been made l.y the South Taranaki Cricket Association, and in view of the approaching match against the' Australians, the South Taranaki Cricket Association be informed that unless steps are taken by them within seven days to effect such amalgamation, the matter be left over until next season." It was decided to take in hand the preparation of the pitch at otic, and a strong working committee was set up for that purpose. It was also decided to hold a ball during the stay of the visitors, arrangements for which were left in the hands of Messrs. Avery and Nicoll.

Mr. M. G. Wiliiams was appointed umpire for the match. A trial match, North v. South, will be held as soon as possible, to aid the selector (Mr. D. Clegg) in his choice of the team. Opinions were divided as to whether Taranaki should .play eleven or eighteen, and the question was left in abeyance for the time being, to find out what the other association.-: propose doing in the matter.

A sub-committee was appointed to wait oii the stationmaster re delaying the afternoon trains, and also to wait on the Tradesmen's Association re closing for the afternoon on each day of the match.

Mr. L. Hill was appointed to assist the secretary (Mr. A. Bewley) with the increased work "entailed by the Australian match. It was decided that in the second round matches in the Saturday competition only one day matches shall be played, the same method of counting points to be adhered to as in the first, round. Senior grade matches for February 17 were put off to the 24th, the Wanderers v. Carririgton Road will be played in the Recreation Grounds, Rovers v. Waitara in the Western 1v...

Rumor has been busy for some time past concerning flleged mis'conduct of certain members of the Wellington representative cricket team which visited Auckland at Christmas. The matter has been discussed by the Cricket Association in committee several times, and on Monday evening a decision was given. The committee passed the fol--1 owing resolution:—" That the Management Committee have inquired into the r>nduct of the Wellington representative team whilst 011 tour in Auckland, and having received reports from the captain of the team and the manager of the Central Hotel, and after hearing the chairman's report, they are satisfied that the statements of alleged miscon. duct against the team have been grossly exaggerated, and do not call for further

action."
