By Telegraph.—Pres»' Association. Christchurch, Last Night,
At a meeting of the -Nnv Zealand Hockey Association, 5t was reported hi regard to the proposed tour of the Engilisjh tcitoi that !repliss toad Ibecjul received from associations whose guarantees total £,">oo in favor of the tour, whilst in respect of three otiier associations the regies were problematical, iilie amount of their guarantees being £l5O.
The chairman (Mr. E. Gordon) stated that .WOO was ample to finance the tour. I'n lengthy remarks regarding the attitude of the Canterbury Association, which holds the time is inopportune for the visit, the chairman said that the Canterbury Association's attitude was more or less of itn insult to the management connuittec of the Now Zealand Association. At the anuusil meeting it wag decided to take the preliminary steps in connect ion with the tour, Canterbury's delegates voted in favor of the motion, and the foolish people who constituted the executive of tjlie Canterbury Association were (stultifying them.se) vw, l by their present attitude. As to tile statement that the 'English team could not teach th« local men much, it seemed to iiim altogether too ridiculous for consideration. It was decided to communicate with r. Collins, secretary of I lie English Association to ascertain how matters ■were progressing.at his end, and to rmpreSs on him the necessity for sending tl'ie strongest possible team to New Zealand.
