N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. By Telegraph.—Press' Association. Wellington, Last Night. The preliminary selection of the Wellington team for the New Zealand attiletic championships is as follows: Woodger, 100 yds and 200 yds; Hubbard, 100 yds and 220 yds and long jump; Wilton, 440 yds; Wilson 440 yds aud 880 yds; Harding, 440vds and SSOyds; Heller, mile; KeTl and Cashman, walks; Evensen, hurdles, high jump and pole vault; McKay, high and long jump, polt vault and throwing tile weight. MEETING OF THE AMATEUR COUNCIL. Wellington, Night. A meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held this evening. The Otago centre notified that it was not m Tavor of the proposal to make a levy on club members towards the financing of New Zealand representatives at the Olympic Games but it wouid, if called upon, do all in its power to raise any amount which it might ie called upon provide for this purpose. The Otago centre favors Holding the annual cross-country championship ;.n----der the auspices of the Southland centre. Canterbury thinjts that a m ire central place for the race than Hivmton would suit better. The matter wll be dealt with when the other centres reply to the Council's circular. The Wellington centre applied for the affiliation of the Hawera Club. Tin e .was some discussion on the subject of the extensiveness of the Wellington district, which includes Taranaki, ilawke's Bay and Nelson, as compared with the other districts. The opinion was freely expressed that something ought to be done to lessen the district, either by forming a new centre at Whnganiu or by attaching Nelson to Canterbury. Another proposal was to .t----t.ach Taranaki to Auckland. The affiliation was agreed to am! was set up to report on the better distribution of centres. Reinstatement as amateurs was agreed to in the cases of J. W. MeKenzie (Invercargill) ann J. Garrett (Auckland) . The State premiership shield, won by the New Zealand team at Brisbane in October last, is to be held by the president, and will be insured. Mr. C. E. Bridge brought forward a proposal for the disposal of the goid medai presented to the Association by the Queensland Jubilee Exhibition committec in commemoration of the performance of the New Zealand athletes at the last Australian championship . t Brisbane. He proposed that the medal he mounted on wood and made a challenge trophy to Be presented every year, at the New Zealand championship meeting. The award will be made on .-lie records and the standards gained battle provincial representatives, the province with the most points to take the medal iot the year. The proposal was adopted, and will be put into practice at Auckland.
