Sundries sold at usual rates. Meat—The meat sale was well attended and were a shade higher. The meat was of excellent quality, and competition was keen right through. There was a large number of people present and bidding was brisk throughout. Weaners made 4s Gd to Gs, stores 13s Od, horse £7, liorse, gig, and harness £25. At Kaliotu ou Tuesday weaners made 10s Gd to £-1 Is Gd, IS-months steers ■£2 4s 1 , 15-months heifers £2, 2-year heifers in calf £3 lis, store cows (poor condition) £1 10s Gd, fat cows £4 Gs, 'bulls £2 7s to '£2 9s. At waiwakauio on J-'iiursciay t-nere was a fair yarding, mostly of grown cattle. Bidding was brisk, and very little was pass'ed in at the hammer. Fat cattle were dull I of s'ale, and fat pigs sold well, but stores I were rather easier. Store cattle were slow of sale, and dairy cows were in good demand'. Store Sheep: Rape lambs sold at 10s Gd to lis 3d, forward wethers to 13s. medium Us Gd to 12s Gd, small 10s to lis 3d; good 2-tooth ewes 14s to 14s' 7d, medium to 13s 9d, 2 and 4-tootlis 14s to 15s 7d, G anA 8-tooth 12s lOel to 13s 2d. Fat lambs, 13s 9d to 14s 8d for heavyweights and tegs, and lis 2el to 13s Gd for light to average weights. Fat Sheep: Prime wethers 15s to 17s 7d, others 12s Gd to 14s fid: prime ewe-, lis Gd to 14s Od. extra 15s, others 8s (>•! to lis. Fat Cattle: Steers made £5 5s to ±'o 10s, heifers £5 to £7 10s. and cows £•5 to £8 7s Gd —equal to 20.-' to 31 s for prime, 18s Gd to 10s Gd for medium, and 17s to 18s for cow and inferior beer. Veal calves sold at 4s Gd to 525. Store Cattle: Yearlings made 27s to 37s Gd, 15 to 18-nionths sorts £2, 2-year heifers £3, 2%-year heifers £3 9s' to £3 lis, 3-year steers £5 17s Gd, 2%year steers £4 18s Gd, 3-year heifers i£3 lis, and dry cows 20s to £3 15s. A ■medium entry of dairy cows met with spirited competition, and a good clearance was made at prices' ranging from £3 10s to £.lO Sfe. Pigs: Heavy baconers made 93s to 50s, lighter 35s (3d to 41s—equal to 3%d per lb; large porters 32s to 35s 1 , and smaller 27s to 30s—equal to 4%d to
4%d per lb; medium stores made 20s to 23s lid, smaller 15s to IDs, and weaners 9s to 12s Gd. DUNEDIN. At Burnside stock market 182 fat cattle were yarded. Prices' were a shadfe firmer than last week. Best bullocks ■£S 5s to £-9 10s, extra to £ll, medium -£7 10s to £B, inferior £6 6s to £6 17s Cd. Fat Sheep: 2738 penned. For prime wethers and ewes the market was Is easier, and lighter sorts were about 2s easier. Best wethers to 10s Cd, medium 12s to 13s Gd; best, ewes to 14s 6d, medium 8s Cd to 10s. Fat Lambs: 1124 penned. Freezing buyers were operating, and this resulted in firm sale. Best to 14s 9d, freezing lambs 8s Od to 12s Gd. smaller 7s Gd to 8s Gd. Tigs: Small pigs were in fairly large supply, and bidding was fairly brisk. Suckers 8s to lis, slips 12s to lGs, stores 18s' to 23is, porkers 2Gs to 335, light "baconers 35s to 40;% heavy baconers 43s to 465. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report a good yarding of sheep and cattle at their Ot.iki sale held yesterday. All sheo.p sold readily, there being a keen demand for young ewes and wethers. A complete clearance was effected at the following rates':—Fat and forward wethers 12s to 12s sd, fat and forward lambs 8s Id, small lambs ss, aged ewes 7s 4d, cull ewes 3s to 4s 6d. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report: : At our Marton sale on Tuesday there i was a good entry of sheep, which were j in fair demand, and a- small entry of ! cattle, which were all sold. At Pahiatua on Tuesday the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile-Agency Company, Ltd., had a good yarding of sheep and a fair yarding of cattle.- There was a good demand for all classes, and a total clearance was effected. Sheep: Cull lamb-', small, 2s Id; lambs, small, 3s lid; mixed lambs Gs, woolly lambs 7s Od. 2-tooth to f.f.-m. ewes lis 3d, 2' and 4-tooth wethers 10s. to lis, store c-ows. 54s to G3s, fat cows G4s to 725, mixed weaners' lis to 21s, bulls 30s to GOs. With respect to their Pahiatua sale on Tuesday, Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report only a small entry. Eigh-teen-months steers 50s to 52s Gd, 2%steers 80s to 82s Gd store cows 55s to GOs, heifer calves. 21s. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their fortnightly sale at their Greytown yards on Monday. Owing to the inclement weather sheep did not come forward up to advertised numbers, but a full yar<lin<r of cattle - was recorded. Sheep were represented by shorn and woolly lambs, and all lines' offered found purchasers under the hammer. The firm had some nice lines oj young cattle yarded, also some fair 3-yea-r steers. Prices for both sheep and' cattle were on a par with those lately' ruling. Quotations are as follow: Medium shorn Roninev cross lambs 5s Cd to os Sd, woolly lambs (small) 4s od,' heifers in calf £3 7s. 2-year steers £4 ■lss. A line of 40 medium 3-year steers brought £5 2s Cd. empty cows £2 2s, empty heifers £2 Gs to £2 10s.
