WAITARA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The North Taranaki Mounted Rifles have decided to hold their sports on St. Patrick's Day. A meeting is to 'be held shortly to elect a committee to carry out the arrangements. U. H. Stubbs intends leaving ior Sydney immediately oil business matters. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Ivaikoura is expected to load frozen meat oil* the roadstead about the 10th instant. Mr. J. Cameron, secretary to the Waitara Harbor Board, whose health has been anything but satisfactory of late, has' been granted, a month's leave of absence in order that he may recuperate. The statutory meeting of the Waitara Harbor Board for the flection of chairman was held on Tuesday afternoon, Messrs. Stubbs, Chappell, Spurdle, and Jennings. M.P., being present. On the motion of Mr. Jenkins, seconded by Mr. Chappell, Mr. Stubbs was unanimously elected to the position. Mr. Stubbs, in returning thanks', said it was very gratifying to him to hear the remarks made, an<l°hc was especially pleased that the proposer on the occasion was Mr. Jenkins. Between them there nad been a little friction over Board business, but each allowed there was reason in the other's contentions, and whatever feeling there was had only existed over the Board's' business, and had not gone outside the room. They <*>uld all feel gratified that the business had gone along so well during the year from a trade point of view—the most satisfactory in the annals of the Board. If trade continued in the same way, there was, he said, no reason why the Board should not become one of the most important in the Dominion.
