A STATE-OWNED LINE. BETWEEN AUSTRALIA AND LONDON. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Received February 4, 1.10 a.m. Melbourne, Last Night. Advices have been received that the Pacific Cable Board has secured the control from the Canadian Pacific Railway of the telegraph line from Montreal to Barn-field. Negotiations were necessitated by the frequent failures of the Canadian lines. The board will lease the linc| for five years at an annual rental of .■£.•5000. Negotiations for a State-owned cable across the Atlantic have not yet been completed, but before long it is anticipated this will be accomplished, completing the through line from Queensland to London.
