BETWEEN" GERMAN' AND BRITISH SHIPPING COMPANIES. By Telegraph.—Press' Association. Received February 3, 10.5 p.m. Berlin, February 3. Four German steamship lines are offering to take cargo to British South Africa from Southampton, Liverpool, London, and Glasgow at 5s per ton below British Conference lines' rates'. The Germans start this in retaliation for the Union Castle line loading steamers at Antwerp and Hamburg for East Africa. A fierce freight war is threatened.
