DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs. E. Griffiths and Co. are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Messrs. Mills and Sparrow, dated 17th December. 1909: — BUTTER. The weather has been - very cold all •the week, and in many parts of the country snow has fallen; while on the Continent they have also experienced 'severe weather. Danish: The demand in the north has 'been very good, and as o:v- rs for the early part of the week ;.r,' larger than usual, on account of the approaching holiday*;, the quotation has been raised 2 kroner. French: The market is firm, and Ave are inclined to think prices must advance in the near future, as supplies arc very small.

Australian: The s.s. Ormuz docked on Sunday last, but discharged her cargo very slowly, and there was nothing on the market until Wednesday, and even to-day the butters are not all landed. The general standaixl of quality is' good, ami much be iter than the previous week's arrival per. s.s. CliTna. There has been an excellent demand, and we ; think the market will be clear at the time when we get the next arrival per s.s. Macedonia. New Zealand: The s.s. Tainui docked on the 14th, which was four days before iier" scheduled due date, and again we have seen the disadvantage of the butter being in so many hands. Some Sellers started at IOSs, ana 'had it not 'been for one or two of the leading agents holding firm at 110s, we are afraid there would have been lower ■prices than even IOSs, as they seem so anxious to dispose of their butter before it actually arrives, with the result that they will take Is to 2s less"than market price tc secure orders'. There has brcn a very good trade, and we think this Jboat will now clear at about 110s, with an occasional shilling more for choice butter. Ai£"luine: Sales were made to arrive this week ac lflfi=. but when the butter landed it was soon seen that these v.'ere 'too low, and the holders have therefore firmed up considerably. CHEESE. Canadian: Trade at this time of the year is always quiet, and prices are about the same as last week. New Zealand: Trade generally is very quiet, Colored seems rather overdone, and is practically Is weaker, while ■white is laiiiy firm.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 27th inst.: "The market is strong for merino wool, and fine sorts are dearer. For crossbred* the market is active, though slightly lower prices are offering for medium and coarse greasy." DaTgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cable messages from their London house, under date of the 27th inst.: ''Wool: Sales continue firm and active, -with bri-dc competition. Greasy merino wooL', medium sorts, are higher. American buyers are not. buving much. ''Tallow: Mutton is a shade easier, but other descriptions are unchanged. "Frozen Meat.—Mutton.- Stocks of Canterbury are exhausted. North Island firm, but prices unchanged. Australian mutton is y s d lower. Lamb: Old season's stocks are nearly exhausled. For new season's prime cross-bred North Island and Australian lamb there is a firm demand at unchanged prices. Beef: There is a better demand owing to the cold weather. Any change in price is in -favor of sellers."
