Thursday, 3rd March.—Lord Kitchener leaves Auckland. Camps under the direction of officers commanding districts will bo established at Abbotsford (near Dunedin), Hagley Park (near Christchurch), Johns'onville (near Wellington), and near Auckland (locality not fixed); transport by rail; pay and allowances, rations, and forage to be on the same scale as authorised for Easter manoeuvres. Pay and allowances will be paid only for attendance for each twenty-four hours reckoned as a day, counting from entraining to retraining on return. Authority must first be obtained before arrangements are entered into for costly conveyance by land or sea to convey for outlying companies to be railway. The housing of guns and all first line transport is hereby authorised. Officers commanding districts to requisition for authority for second line transport they consider necessary. Attendance at these camps' may count as days in camp, or each day may count as two capitation-earning I daylight parades for current year. | Field service uniform and marching i order kit only to be used. These camps will take the place of the usual manI oouvres during the coming Easter week lin March next. The defence cadets I (senior cadets) to parade for inspection and review at the same place and date as the public (junior) school cadets. Companies remaining overnight will receive a ration allowance of 2s per officer and cadet per twenty-four hours. A ration allowance of sixpence per meal will be made for each officer and cadet of local companies only requiring one or two meals at camp. To avoid unnecessary expense officers commanding j districts to arrange that troops are re- | turned to their homes at the earliest I possible time after conclusion of inspecj tion. A Government steamer will be available for conveying troops from XelI son districts. Rations only will be pro- | vided while en route to and from Weli lington by steamer.
