The oat harvest is in full swing, but owners are not anxious to sell, the prices asked being a penny per bushel in advance of what merchants consider market value, namely, Is 7d to Is Bd. The grain offering is of excellent color, but not as large as it should be, owing to unfavorable weather whin ripening. Threshing hae not come up ■to expectations in many cases, but this is unlikely to be taken as a fair criterion of the whole of the crops, and it is expected that later results will be much more satisfactory. It is generally expected the return will exceed last but will not be as large as was toped two months ago. CHARGE AGAINST BUSINESS MAN. Palmerston N., Wednesday. A. TI. Raines, who was arrested yesterday on a warrant from Invercargill charging him with failing to keep proper Tiooks of accounts, was re»anded to Invercargill to appear on February 2, bail being allowed.
