EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE. The Minister oi Education has notified the Taranaki Education Board that '.t has been decided to convene a general educational conference to meet in Wellington on the 10th, 11th and 12th Fenruary, 1010. The conference will consist of representative teachers and other persons of standing professionally employed in typical educational activities of various forms within the Dominion, and will be expected to devote itseif from different- points of view to such broad questions as "nave a direct bearing on the co-ordination of the several parts of the education system of New Zealand. The conference will be constituted as follows: —One representative each of the professorial boards of the four University Colleges, and the director of Canterbury Agricultural College; the principals of the four Training College.-:: six representatives of secondary schools; four representatives of technical schools; eight representatives of public schools (including district high schools), elect-;d by the New Zealfmd Educational Institute; a representative inspector from each education district; five inspectors of the Education Department, inclusive of the Inspector-General of Schools, who will act as chairman of the conference. The. provisional programnre includes: The work of -primary schools; relation of primary schools to Secondary and technical schools; the work of secondary schools and technical schools; the relation of secondary and technical schools to one another, and to the University Colleges; the work of the University and University Colleges, and of the training colleges in relation thereto. This conference will be followed 3>y the periodical conference for the special discussion of training college matters, and by the triennial conference of inspectors of schools.
