The number affected by the trouble regarding the steamer Jason was oiily about 130 men, who were under the impression that the collier lOaroo's coal \va» non-union coal. The steamers Morseby a;id Maallina are to be recommissioned for the Island service if sufficient coal is obtained to permit of the resumption of 'their running. Coal exported from Newcastle last year amounted to 1,433,000 tons less than in the previous year. The general trade of the port was also badly affected by the strike. The revenue collected at the Custom House showed a falling-off of £14,932.
