A fire, originating in a room between t]ie Sultan's private apartments and the Chamber of Deputies. destroyed ChirPalace, which was erected at a cost of lour million pounds. The outbreak is attributed to defective heating apparatus, though there are suggestions atloat ascribing it to the work ot reactionaries. Sailors from Russian and American gunboats' were, among the first, on the scene and rendered splendid assistance, but all the archives in the Chamber, the Bills in committee and tiie Budget Estimates were burnt. Parliament resumes in the TashkiShla Barracks.
