AN ELECTION INCIDENT.
Our cables yesterday morning giving the results of the Home elections also mentioned the fact that Mr. LloydGeorge received a very hostile reception at Great Grimsby, -and had to be assisted by the police to escape along the railway line to the nearest station. The opposition, apparently, was inspired by the Unionists who, however, seem to have gained nothing by their actions. The result of the Grimsby election shows that the representative of Mr. Lioyd-Goorge's policy, Mr. Wing, oust 3d the sitting member, Sir. G. Doughty, a Unionist, aftc r a strenuous campaign. Truly the laugh is now on the side cf the Chancellor of the Exchequer. At the l!)0(i eleetion the Unionist was returned over the Liberal candidate by a. majority of 2300 votes. On Saturday la?t, tile Liberal completely turned the taMes, ■winning by Tlli votes to 74.'it). It would seem, therefore, that the demonstration against Mr. Lloyd-George was not a "'popular'' one, but was the work oi the rabble, a political demonstration engineered by his opponents, who have been left lamenting.
