ARCHDEACON AVERILL
SEND-OFF FROM CHRiSTOHURCH. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Christchurcli, Last Night. Archdeacon Averill, Bishop-elect of Waiapu, and Mrs. Averill bade goodbye to the parishioners of St. Michael's at a. garden party this afternoon. There wis a very large attendance, and advantage was taken of the opportunity to present Archdeacon Averill with a gold episcopal ring and domestic silverware. On behalf of the clergy of I the diocese, an accompanying address stated that they desired to avail themselves Of the opportunity of expressing their sincere personal esteem and appreciation of Archdeacon Averill's faithful and devoted work, and at the same time their hopes and earnest wishes for his success, under Almighty God, in the High sphere of work to which he had been called. In acknowledging, Archdeacon Averill stated He had received a bank slip for £l7O as a small token of appreciation and affection from parishioners And members of the congregation.
