HEWITT'S PICTURES. Visitors to New Plymouth, us wall as residents of the town, are to bo well catered for during the holidays in the matter of moving pictures. Jlr. Hewitt has secured a particularly good sot of films for the season. The'v were shown at the Theatre Royal for the first time last evening and were greatly appreciated. Every picture submitted whs worth the admission money. The programme takes two and a-half hours to run through, there being some SOOO feet of film. "The Scilly Isles in the Flower Season" was one of the gems. It showed the flower girls among the blooms, packing for market, etc. ''Yachting .it Cowes" was another interesting picture, illustrating a splendid water carnival. "The Cowboy's Sweetheart," a magnificent colored film, gave one a comprehensive idea of how the inhabitants of the Wild West manage their love affairs. One of the scenes in tli's film depicted a beautifully colored waterfall and ie a marvel of the cinematographic art. A splendid idea of naval warfare was demonstrated in "The Fighting top of a flagship." A dramatic picture that was shown in a verv realistic manner was "The Gambler." The story of the home life of the confirmed gambler was striking'}' pourtrayrd. The comic pictures were Very seasonable, producing as they did considerable mirth. The programme will be repeated this evening. For Christmas Night a special programme is being arranged.
