LORD KITCHENER.
ARRIVAL AT PORT DARWIN. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Port Darwin, December 23. Lord Kitchener arrived by a Dutcil steamer from the Netherlands' Indies anj was welcomed by Major-General Hoad, who boarded the cruiser Encounter, which fired a salute of nineteen pas. Subsequently the great eoldiar landed and was officially welcomed in the Town Hall. The Encounter sails for Thursday Island to-day. Lord Kitchener is in excellent health. He is described as blue-eyed, somewhat slipht, and a mild-looking gentleman, instea3 of the swarthy, fierce-eyed man of gigantic mould of popular' impression.
