101 IN THE SHADE. CROPS THREATENED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. Splendid summer weather has been experienced in the city this week, but in Central Otago it has been exceptionally hot. At Alexandra the thermometer registered IDI degrees in the shade and to-day was just as hot. Unless rain falls soon crops will suller severely. Fruit is ripening much earlier than usual. At Roxburgh yesterday the thermometer stood at 132 degrees in the sun at 10.30 a.m. and at 90 in the shade at 0 p.m. The weather at I Cromwell was also exceptionally hot.
