CROP RETURNS.

The agricultural statistics estimate,! as on December 10, give the following areas and estimated yields:— c Wheat, SI 1,000 aeree, 11,020,000 bushels, an averago of 35 bushels. Oats, 378,000 acres, 17,770,700 bushels. Barley, 41,500 acres,. 130,700 bushels, an averago of 38 bushels. Rye-grass, 56,550 acres, 1,81)4,050 bushels, an average of 38 bushels. Cocksfoot, 29,500 acres, 445,000 lbs an average of 151 lbs. ' Potatoes, 30,50(i acres, 183.800 ton; an average of six tons. ' There is a large increase in the area of maize in Auckland and in Taranaki The season is highly favorable, and the conditions of the crops generally are better than at the corresponding <ln*,<Ft of last year. Exceptions are Awatjre Valley and Central Otago, where the rainfall is deficient. Earlv turnips in some localities were seriously affected by aphis.
