HEAT AND BUSH FIRES.
CROPS DESTROYED. MAN BURNED TO DEATH. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, December 22. A aevore heat wave prevails, and bush fires are raging im all directions. At Donald many acres of standing erope and 20,000 bags of wheat were burned. The total damage is estimated at £50,000. At Cobrnm 1000 bag* of wheat and 00 neres of barley were destroyed. At Charlton on old man named Steward, who entered a burnm; house to secure valuables, was burned to death. Reports iruiii other districts show that immense areas of srruss and many crops have been destroyed, and that a number of settlers have lost th-lr homos.
