I « A BATHLNti FATAUiY\ By Telegraph.—Press Association. ] Auckland, December 20. Vincent Maloncy, aged 18, was drowned at Karaku Beach, near Pukekohe, iye3terday. A party of young men went •to the beach for fishing, and Maloncy ■and John Best went in to'bathe. Mu•loney got into the channel, which is ■narrow, but eight feet deep, and although be was a fair swimmer, he soon got into difficulties. Best went to his assistance and was pulled under, having £reat dill'iculty in saving himself. Maloney's body was found an hour later. He was a son of a widow living at Puui. KNOCKED DOWN BY A TRAM. " Wellington, December 20. Robert Henry Parker, an elderly man, ■was knocked down by a tfamcar in Manners Street, about 10.30 on Saturday night, and was removed to the hospital in an unconscious condition. The base of his skull was fractured. The injured man was employed as a cook in a boarding-house in the city. (He is Still insensible. A VEHICLE FATALITY. ! ,Auckland, December 20. Robert Boox, an inmate of the Cost3ey Home, who was injured by a vehicle ion September 13, died in the hospital.
