VOUKU MAN DROWNED.

A mate named Christopher Hillings tried to save him, but was pulled under and nearly drowned ton. He only freed himself after a great struggle, and reached the bank exhaust, ed. A BODY RECOVERED. Wanganui, Last Sight. The body of Edward Hackett, who was drowned in the river at midnight on Thursday, was found on Saturday afternoon.
THE KAPUNI DROWNING FATALITIES.
M the coronial enquiry into l'ie deaths of Burn and Swale, creamery enployees, who were drowned while bathing at Kapuni on Thursday last, the following verdict was returned:—••That Burn came to his death r oy accidental drowning, and Swale met liis death )>v trying to rescue Burn." Both the deceased (says the Star) came from line,-, cargill, where each has a father „-,l mother living. The .bodies were take.i in the early train on Saturday morniii" en route for Invercargill. ' "
