On Friday last, the 3rd instant, I held a very successful sale of .pedigree cattle, particulars of which have already been published. This was my second show sale of pedigree stock, and, owing to the encouragement which I have received at the hands of various vendors, I intend making this an annual sale to be held the day following the Taranaki Metropolitan Show. The success of this and the previous sale, and the high prices of j pedigree stock which rule in Taranaki, i should encourage vendors to offer their i stock at this sale. i

At the Haymarket 011 Saturday there was but a staall yarding of •pigs," but fair prices were realised. Wcaners made 5s to Bs, stores 18s Od, porkcre horses £2 to £4 ss.

At Urenui on Monday there full yarding of cattle, the yards being taxed to their utmost. The attendance was good and bidding brisk, and practically everything was fold. VIOKERS AND STEVENS' REPORT. There was a fair entry of stock in our yards lon Wednesday, and nearly everything was sold as follows: Yearling to 15-months £1 14a fld to £2 7s fld, 18-months £2 Us to £2 14S Od, empty lieifers £3 to £3 10s Bd, •tore cows '£2 to £3 sa, springers £3 to £O, bulls £2 10s to £3 15s, 8 pairs bullocks and dray £l3O.

WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT Poultry.—Our pens were filled oo Saturday, and the extra accommodation we had arranged was partly filled before the sale commenced.. Prices were a good deal easier than last week, and ruled as follow; Hens Is 8d to 2s Id, ducks 2s 2d to 2a 7d, ducklings lOd to Is Od according to age, geese 2s 9d to 3s, goslings 2s 9d to 3s 3d, turkey hens 4s 3d to ss> 3d, gobblers 8s to lis. Meat.—We had a good attendance for both our morning and afternoon sales, and meat was at a fair rate as follows: —Beef:Sirloins 3d to 4d, round 2d to S'/sd, rib 2'/.d to 3d, roast 2'/ s d to 3d, corned l'/o(l to 2d, steak 3d to 3%d, suet 2'/ s d. Mutton: Legs 4d to 4y 2 d, fore quarters 2y a d to 3y 2 d, loins 3d. Furniture sale—On Wednesday we held a clearing Bale on account of Mr. S. Arrowsmith, who has now left New Plymouth. There was' a very large attendance, and bidding throughout was very spirited, and prices realised were very satisfactory to all parties.

Stock.—At our yards. Oniata, we held our usual weekly sale, and our last for 1909. There was only a fair entry, but most pens were sold at the hammer or firivatcly as under:—Oradc Jersey yearing heifers' £3 4s to £3 l(is, yearling heifers 38s Od, two-year steel's .t!3 Is, bulls £2 13s to £3 os, springing cows £4 7s Od to £4 las, springing heifers £3 12s Od.

Fruit.—During the week we have handled a very large quantity of Island, local, Auckland, Nelson, and llawke'a Bay fruits. The stone fruit season is setting in much earlier this year than usual, and fruit promises to be plentiful and of good quality. -Extra large lots or cherries and strawberries' have come to hand, «nd have met a ready sale, l'riccs as under, varying according to quality and size of boxes:. Apples, wincsaps 17s; oranges, American navels 24s (small supply); tomatoes, ripe, 2%d per lb; green Fijis', 14s to 14s Ud (short supply); 'l'ongans, 9s to lOs 9d; tomatoes, 'choice 9'/ 3 d to lid, medium 7d to B'/.<l. thirds 4<l to Od; cherries, 9d to Is 9ii per lb; cucumbers, -Is to 5s lid per dozen; lemons, 4s to 4s (id; strawberries, Is to Is sd; gooseberries, 4s 0d to lis :{l; grapes, Is 9d to Is lid; green peas, Bkl to lid pel- peck; red currants, 4s to 4s lid; plums, 4s Od to 6s; apricots, lOs per 241bs. LOAN AND MERCANTILE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd.. Stratford, report that their branch in Wellington had a very successful sale on 3rd inst. Some local clips, fairly representative of this district, sold at'B%d per lb, which should be considered satisfactory. The next Wellington pales will be held on January 3rd next, and it is expected that a vcrv large attendance of English, French, Herman and American buyers will 'be present and good prices secured. ADDIXUTO.V. The yarding of store sheep was a large one, nil classes being well represented, but wethers were in largest proportion. Shorn ewes and Jamba made os 3d to 8s 3d, woolly wethers to 17s Od, shorn to 13s lOd, hoggets to 13s Od, and tlrj ewes 13s Bd.

There was an entry of 1482 fat iamos. There were 770 lambs bought for export, (113 by butchers, and 80 were passed in. The general range of prices was IDs' to 12s Gd, heavier weights' 12s 7d to 13s lid, and a few extra 13s Od to 14s 9d. IV. two export buyers paid lis 3d to )2s 7d, ■and the speculator gave up to 13s Od, most of his lots costing 12a 4d to 13s. There was a fairly large yarding of fat sheep. The range of prices was: Woolly wethers 17a lOd, prime shorn wethers Ids to 17s, lighter 12s 5d to 14s lid; prime shorn ewes 12s lid to 14s Dd, others lis to 12s. There were 256 head of fat cattle penned of average quality. Steers made £li las to £0 12s, heifers i£s 128 Gd to £B, and cows' £4 17s Gd to £9—equal to 21s to 23s for .prime, 18s Gd to 20s Gd for medium, and 17s Gd to 18s Gd for cow and inferior beef per 1001b.

A small entry of store cattle met with brisk sale, prices showing an advance of 5s to Gs per head. Yearlings made 31s, 15 to 18-inonths £2 Is. to £3 ss, 2-year steers' £4 Us, 2-year heifers £4 12s Od, 3-year steers Jt's 2s Gd to £5 10s, and dry cows 30s to £4 7s Gd. A line of 3 and 4-year steers made £G ss.

Dairv cows were in fair demand at £3 10s to £8 2s Gd.

Pigs were entered in large numbers, but they met with dull sale at lower rates. Choppers realised 45s' to G2s Gd, heavy baconers 45s to 50s, and lighter 33s to 40s—equal to 3'/ a d to 3%d per lb; porkers 25s to 32s—equal to 4V a d per lb. A few stores changed hands, the larger sorts making 24s to 30s, medium his to 225, aud the better clasps of wcaners 12s Gd to 21s. DUNEDIN. At Burnsidc stock market 200 tat cattle were yarded, the major portion consisting of prime heavy and medium weight bullocks, with a few pens ef prime heifers and cows. At the commencement of the sale prices a shade easier than last week's rates, but later on bidding became more animated, with keen competition towards th • close at .prices fully equal to last week's rates. Best bullocks £0 15s to £lO As, extra to £ll 12s Od, medium £7 10s £b £9 ss, heifers to £B.

Fat Sheep: 2075 penned, principally of prime quality. This number proved equal to requirements, and the sale was fairly steady from start to finish at prices on a par with last week's rates. Best wethers 14s Gd to 10s, extra to 18s; medium and light weights 12s Gd to 14s; best ewes 13s to 15s. medium 9s 6d to 12s.

Fat Lambs': 788 penned. In the absence of export buyers, sellers had to be content with a reduction of Is to Is 6d on last week's prices. Best 12s Gd to 14s, medium 10s to Us od. Pigs: 175 penned. Prices were much the same as tjiose ruling last week. Suckers' 8s Gd to 14s, slips 14a to 10s, stores 20s to 255, porkers 33s to 38a.
