Bates' :/ summary and forecast: — * A change for southerly winds' and . cooler weather has taken place to-day. Conditions have generally been fine but gloomy. The present indications are for cloudy ' and unsettled weather generally, and rain probably in most parts. The barometer will probably rise in the northern idistricts and fall in the south, steeper gradient* accounting for strong southerly and westerly winds with cooler weather.
