Entries for all cycle events in connection with the Axemen's Carnival close with the secretary (Mr. F. E. Hardy) to-night at 8.30 o'clock. The Egmont Eoad Board notify the appointment of Thos. Parker as ranger. The Moa Eoad Board invites tenders, to close on the 18th inst.. for roadwork. Messrs E. Griffiths and Co. insert a copy of an interesting testimonial re Sutton's Magnum Bonum swedes. Particulars on page 1. Baker and Co.. house furnishers, Devon street, are making a special display of Christmas g<;ods, amongst which appear a magnificent selection of Liberty and Co.'s pewter, pottery and fancy goods. The public is invited to make an inspection of the stork. Visitors to New Plymouth will .'rid the right thing in way of ready-to-wear goods. Hats, caps, suits, shirts, millinery, costumes and sunshades are all showing in delightful profusion at their store. Hosiery and gloves, handkerchiefs. etc., are not neglected, and many novelties are to be seen in them.— White and Sons.— Advt.
