Southern ports about 1 p.m. yesterday, 'j Uaile in dock at Port Chalmere one of ( the valves of the caisson which closes the entrance to the docs, by some mis- ] hap allowed the water to enter, and the . tlock had to be pumped out and re- « filled to let the steamer out, so that a tide was missed. The vessel brought 308 tons of cargo for this port, including 214 sacks, 142 hundreds, 340 fifties and , 30 twenty-fives of flour, 672 sacks oats, , 78 sacks wheat, 150 sacks pollard, besides a quantity of oatmeal and otlvr ' produce. Transhipments were brought bx Warrimoo, Victoria, Ulimaroa, Moo- ' rakif Athenic, Star of Scotland, and Sussex. The Koonya left for Westport and i • Groyniouth about 7 o'clock last night |: witha small quantity of cargo. I THE KOTUKU. The Kotuku left Wellington about 1 o'clock" yesterday afternoon for New Plymouth, via Picton and Nelson. She has 56 tons of cargo from Wellington, this small quantity being due to the fact that the Koonya, which arrived hero yesterday, picked up the transhipments, etc., at Wellington. The Kotuku is due here to-morrow. THE CORINNA. The Corinna left Lyttelton about 2 p.m. yesterday for Wellington and New Plymouth. She has already picked up 321 tons of general cargo at Southern ports for New Plymouth. She is d".e here on Friday.' Altogether eighty vessels, including warships, steamers, and others, both Russian and Japanese, were sunk nt iPort Arthur during the Russo-Japanese war. Of these, thirty-four vessels sank at the entrance of Port Arthur, seven others in the port, near the naval edition in the East Harbor, and thirtyeight others between Laohowoi Island and Laotiehshan. Most, of these have already been raised, those rcmiiuing being the Japanese steamers sunk ft the entrance to the port in the first and second blockade expeditions. The salved ships arc said to be in a condition rendering them capable of service, so that the salvage operations may he said to have proved a fair success. OVERSEA SHIPPING.
