ADMIRAL WILSON SUCCEEDS LO>!!> FISHER. By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright Received 2, 10.10 p.m. London, Dpcember It is officially announced that Admiral Sir Arthur Wilson has been appointed to succeed Admiral Lord Fisher as from the 25th January as First Naval Lord. The Premier (Mr. Asquith), with Ki'U Edward's approval, has requested Lord Fisher to continue hi* memberhsip of thn Committee of Imperial Defence after vacating his post.
Admiral Sir Arthur Kvnve.t Wilson, V.C., fi.C., V.0., K.C.R., C.8., was liorn in 1842; served in the Crimean war, 1854; in the Chinese war, ISflo; in t'ie Egyptian campaign. 1882: in the Soudan campaign, 1884; was A.D.C. to the Qneen, 1802-05; was Lord Comptroller ot tile Navy, 181)7-1001; commanded the Channel Squadron, 1001 -H: and was if- , terwards Commander-in-Chief of '.he Home and Channel Fleets.
