A Press Association wire from Duncilin announces tliu death of Mr. Alex. Sligo, bookseller, aged 78. Deceased represented JJuiH'din in Parliament in 189/ at the bye-election following Mr. Fish's death. He was a prominent Oddfellow.
An interesting wedding took place at AVost liedding, Connecticut, U.S.A., oil Ctli October, when Clara L. Clemens, daughter of Samuel 1... Clemens (Mark Twain), was' married to Ossip Gabnlowitscli, the Russian pianist. The wedding took place in the drawing-room at Stormlield, Mark Twain's country home. King Edward is a clergyman, although few people seem to be aware of the fact. He is prebendary of St. David's in Wales and gets a salary of £1 a year, lie is entitled to preach one sermon a year in the cathedral, lie is also a member of the English and Irish bars and a member of the Roval College of Physicians. Wo have since lmd cable news that the operation was "successful, and the Cliiot Justice was making a good recovery. Me nil! probably return to the Dominion )■) February.
