Bates' summary and forecast arc as follow: The weather has continued very unsettled abtout the East Cape; mild and ■Jmmid generally elsewhere, but very changeable in the south, where the barometer has been also very unsteady. Fogs arc reported on the east coast this evening with steady breezes'. The present indications are for fresheni<ig easterly winds, with increasing cloudiness and fog and drizzling showers in parts. The barometer will probably rise slowly southward of New Plymouth .-"iil Napier, and fall more rapidly with -.rinds veering to the nortfiward after 24 hours, with rain probably following.
