ALMS BOXES BROKEN INTO.

Christchureh, Monday. It was discovered yesterday that a number of boxes on the wails of the Roman Catholic Cathedral, .which were used for voluntary contributions for nious or charitable objects, bad been forced open and the contents stolen. Jt is not known how much was secured, hut it is believed not more than £6 or £7. The theft was committed some time on .Saturday night. The main door of the Cathedral was locked but the side door was open. No attempt, was made on the safe, which contained the altar plate. Some suspicious looking characters were scon about tho building on Saturday evening. Thcie is great indignation "among the co n <ire-( gation on account of the sacrilegious nature of the robbery.
