Chapiii, the suffragette, was sentenced U) four months' imprisonment at Old Bailey for assaulting a returning officer at the liermondsey election. Miss Neilson was sentenced to three montlis' imprisonment. These women entered two of the polling booths and emptied bottles of corrosive Huid into the ballot boxes. Some of the fluid splashed on the face of the returning officer.
