OJIATA. t (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Omata school concert lor ue purpose of raising funds to provide prizes lor the children was held in tiie Omnia J Hall on Thursday evening, tne 2jtli instant, The hall was p.ieKed to tna doors with an appreciative audience. Mr. E. It. Bayley, chairman ol me committee, acted as, chairman. .Mr. .\ieveuberg, tin. head teacher, an.l .\li,s O'lir'ia'i. his assistant, are to be congratulated on the excellent programme they phiceii before the public, and the voting actors one and all did full justice' to the careful training they must have received; indeed, some of the items may without exaggeration be pronounced ' excellent, being in more than one, case quite equal to professionals. The club-swinging and dumb-bell exercises were in splendid time, and the action songs proved without a doubt that Mr. Jleyenberg and Miss O'Brian had spared neither" time nor patience in preparing them, and the success which crowned their ell'orts must have been most gratifying to them. The first part of the programme was opened with a piano duct entitled "Westward, Ho!" by Mrs. D. Hooker and Mr. Pearson, and tho same lady and gentleman opened the second part with the duet "Canary Bird." Both items were excellently given and applauded whan finished. The acting of J. O'Connor, if. Cleinow, V. Vickers, 0. Jury, W. McKay, A. Huse, and C. Evans in the farce "Revenge is Sweet" is especially worthy ol mention; and the action Bong "Bayou," given by E. Bayley, E. Mace, K. ilace, E. Taylor, A. O'Connor, and R. Evans, "brought down the house." E. Mace, C. Evans, and E. Vickers in the farce "The Bashful Mr. Flutter" were very good. E. Bayley and E. O'Connor excelled themselves' in the action song "You shan't come and play in our yard," and were vociferously encored, but no encores were allowed. The acting and marching in "Nursery Rhymes" and the Maypole dance were' perfect, and two tiny pages, B. Bayley and (J. George, m attendance on the May Queen won unbounded admiration.' The tableau "Faith, Hope, and Charity" was particularly well staged. The firce "A Jealous Husband" was well rendered l>v E. Buy-, ley, A. O'Connor, R. Jlace, and R. Kid'd, and brought the programme to a close. R. Kidd's acting was particularly good. Air. E. Bayley thanked the audience for their attendance and their evident appreciation of the olt'orts that hart been made to please them, and paid a welldeserved compliment to Mr. Jleyenberg mid Jliss O'Brian. Refreshments were then bunded round, after which the hall was cleared for dancing. Jlr. Pearson acted as accompanist to all the songs.
