ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
SUFFOCATED IN BED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Thursday. Karl Boycns, a. seaman, about 21 years of ago, was found dead in bunk on the Ihumg boat Luvalt at 3.45 a.m. The boa*, was lilted with an auxiliary motor. Joyens retired at 11.30 p.m. and later was found lying limp. He was dragged on deck and water was dashed on his lace, but he was found to be I dead. Presumably an escape of gas overcame him. The jury found that I death was caused by carbonic oxide ' poisoning. DIED UNBER AN OPERATION. Christchurch Last Night. Mrs. Elizabeth Voyce, a patient at the hospital, ilieil this afternoon 'while imdir an operation. At the inquest the evidence showed deceased was suffering ! from a tumor from which she would '.have succumbed if unoperated upon. I Chloroform was first auministered and i/ then ether, under which the patient colI lapsed. A verdict of death by misadventure was returned.
ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. Wanganui, Last Night. A man named David liobcrtson, a farm hand, working near Kai Iwi, ut tempted suicide by cutting hi* throat on Wednesday niglit. He was brought intf the hospital to-day. His condition h not considered critical. A FARMER'S END. Wanganui, Last Night. A farmer named Johnson, of Maxwell town, suicided by cutting his throat to day.
