POLITICAL POINTS.
Says the Eltham Argus: "This is now practically the first session in which the present Prime Minister has had his own party to lead—the short session of a few months ago can scarcely be counted as a session. This session, then, may fairly be looked upon as the first session of the Ward party, and it bids' fair to be an important one. The Financi.il Statement now ibeforo the country i* the most important since the days of John Ballance, and it shows thai there is no lack of constructive ability in the Cabinet. In our opinion the present is the strongest Ministry that New Zealand has seen for many years. Not by any stretch of imagination can it be termed a 'One-man Ministry,' a term that was s'o often used reproachfully in the past. Sir Joseph has surrounded himself with capable men, and we believe that not for a great number of years have we had a Ministry more devoted to the welfare of the people or more practically inclined to serve the best interests of the Dominion."
