Bates' summary and forecast are as follow:—Two disturbances have passed, one in the north and one in the south, and rain has fallen generally and lieen heavy on' the east c<sast of the South Island. The present indications are for a change for more northerly ■winds. A storm area appears to exist to the north-west and to threaten the North Island after about forty hours. The weather will probably be changeable in the meantime.
