The firemen made a good effort to save the latter The fire was on e of the fiercest and most rapid seen in the State. It was a hard light. The whole force of t£! cnous disaster, a whole block at one time appearing to bo doomed. Saxton and Binn's 600 feel, wharf and stock of timber were destroyed.
