The balance-sheet will show very satisfactorily. The question that is going to be hard to 'get over is getting a s-jsa-lary for tlie coming year. There se-ms to be nobody here in a position to spare the amount of lime required to run a show. The contractor, Mr. K. Julian, li.i'sl.id the rille range, and is now cngag-d fencing tlie butts in to preveat -uttle fulling into tliem. The club intends having an opening day, 1 understand, on Uuxing Day. ilr. T. M. Grayling, the contractor for the cheese I'nctory buildings, lias donated a trophy to the rille club for competition amongst the members. Tlie sheep farmers in the district have commenced shearing. Messrs. Docker Jlru»'. linishcl their lot, and Mr. Alex. Alexander started his this week; bill the weather seems to be against sheepshearing and the Maoris are not getting through them very fast. Farmers are now all busy ploughing for the coming season's turnips l .
