The Magistrate convicted him, deferring sentence till the charges against other men were {heard. Dunedin, Last Xtght. Forester was fined £SO and costs. On a similar charge Thos. Kerwiu j wag also fined £SO and costs. In a pmi|sr charge against Sydney Wynne, tile evident* showed that when the constable approached defendant with the object of making a het the latter said "All right, but I .don't bet on the footpath. Come in here," whereupon the two men went in the doorway of an hotel, in this case the magistrate reB.'ivid his decision. AS ESCAPEE'S SRXTEXCE. Cliristchnreh, Wednesday. Thomas Creagher, Hi.- pr(«oner who escaped from Haunter camp, was sen tenced to nine months' imprisonment, the term to be cumulative with his present sentence of Ave years, for housebreaking.
